Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course (EPFA)
Staff who work with children under 18 and who need an essential knowledge of first aid should take this Level 3 EPFA course. It is not aimed at those with overall responsibility for first aid in a setting, however, it is approved by OFSTED and EYFS. Therefore, this is suitable for Nursery and EYFS staff who do not hold overall responsibility in their school or nursery, but who may need to help or support in first aid. It has plenty of practical elements to the day.
Furthermore, this course also acts as Day 1 of the 2-day Paediatric First Aid at Work (PFA), and so you may wish to combine Day 1 with the longer 2 Day course, with some colleagues only doing Day 1.
First Aid Topics covered include:
- Role of the First Aider
- Seizure
- Primary survey
- Choking
- Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)
- Minor injuries
- Wounds, bleeding, and shock
- Recovery position

How long is the First Aid Course?
Course duration: 1 Day course (6 hours). You can split this 6 hour course over two shorter sessions by arrangement.
