Paediatric First Aid
This Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course is particularly aimed at colleagues working with children under 18. It is suitable for au pairs, nannies, childminders, nursery and pre-school staff, sport and leisure staff, crèche leaders, parents, and anyone responsible for the welfare of children. This paediatric first aid course is recognised by OFSTED and includes the requirements of the appointed person in the workplace. It is a thorough course, and takes 2 days covering major injuries, child-specific illnesses and common childhood medical conditions, equipping the learner to be confident and capable of dealing with any medical emergency in your setting. There are plenty of practical elements to the course and a short, paper-based test is completed at the end.

- Role of the Paediatric First Aider
- Seizure
- Primary survey
- Choking
- Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED)
- Minor injuries
- Wounds, bleeding, and shock
- Recovery position
- Diabetic emergencies
- Asthma
- Meningitis
- Febrile convulsions
- Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis
- Fractures
- Extreme cold and heat
- Head, neck and back injuries
- Foreign bodies
- Electrical incidents

Want to renew your Pediatric First Aid Qualification?
Unfortunately, there isn’t a paediatric requal course, so if your PFA qualification is about to expire, you can just re-book on another 2 day course. This does, however, mean that you will have plenty of time to develop your skills and feel confident that your staff are well qualified.
How long is the First Aid Course?
Course duration: 2 Day course (12 hours). You can split this course over a number of twilight sessions by arrangement.
